Trauma Training: The Tavistock Model of working With Trauma

London The Tavistock Centre
September 11-15
NEW seminars only option

London's world-acclaimed Tavistock Centre is calling

This course will provide  a psychoanalytic understanding of trauma, based on the work of the Tavistock Trauma Service. The service is comprised of senior clinical staff who, alongside their core professions of medicine, psychiatry or psychology, are also psychoanalysts. They also work in other modalities such as trauma focused Cognitive behavioural therapy (tf-CBT) and EMDR. The patients seen in the service include those with single episodes of trauma including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, as well as Complex trauma (including asylum seekers and refugees) and developmental trauma.

The course will offer a training and experience of the models used for treatment within the service as well as link with psychoanalytic literature to elucidate the theoretical underpinnings of the work. Clinical material will be presented, followed by group discussion to allow linking with the course members’ own clinical experience. Participants will receive a Tavistock certificate.

Various members of the Tavistock Trauma Service will present over the three days, with course organizers providing the continuity.
